I believe it was the D-day invasion at Normandy.
but I can't decide.
it's either that..or the Battle of Stalingrad.
what do you think?

the Battle of Stalingrad is widely accepted as the biggest turning point in World War II. after the defeat, Nazi Germany lost control of the Eastern Front and was never able to fully recover. by the autumn of 1943, Germany was in full retreat. also, the battle boosted the Soviet Union's morale and shattered the German Army's image as an invincible fighting force.
The most important Allied victory against Germany was the Battle of Stalingrad. Not only did it blunt the offensive power of the Nazis, but up to 600,000 troops were lost, including an entire Army (6th). Although Germany had other offensives in the war, they were relatively small. After Stalingrad, the Russians carried the offensive. Not to be underrated were the Battle of Moscow (1941), the victory in North Africa (1943), and the invasion and liberation of France (1944).
Based on how you've worded the question, I would exclude two key battles, Britain and Stalingrad as they were German offences with the Allied powers on the defensive.
So the key ones I would suggest are:
Normandy
El Alamein, the beginning of the end for Germany in Africa and allowed the invasion of Italy, which gave Stalin his wanted second front in Europe.
You could also include the Battle of the Atlantic, but I'm not sure how much you can count that as a part of an offensive.
Hi.
The answer to this depends a little on your perspective. A battle that turns that tables is certainly important. So one can argue that Stalingrad and El Alamein are important as after these the Germans were went (almost entirely) on the defensive.
One can also say that the battle for Kursk changes things in the east as the German armor never really recovered after that battle.
The invasion of Normandie was beginning of the end. The war could have ended had Eisenhower and Monty fully unleashed Patton the summer of 1944. Student said that in august 1944 the Germans didn´t have any troops in the west, the German border was open!
I would argue that Stalingrad and El Alamein are the keys as there the tables turned.
Hindsight is twenty/twenty, and a few of those solutions practice it. The invasion of Normandy replaced into deliberate right down to the smallest element to be triumphant. the biggest and maximum precious fleet ever assembled delivered a substantial mind-blowing tension precisely the place they have been meant to, and that tension landed, universal a beachhead and held it against all counterattacks. Revisionists have claimed that Germany might have defeated Bradley's tension if purely this or that, however the this and that they cite might have had little consequence on the consequence. case in point, the reason Hitler held his armoured divisions close to Calais replaced into because of the fact the Allies had confident him there may well be a touchdown there. via intelligence and propaganda gadgets that they had created that conviction interior the enemy's ideas. A ineffective English officer have been allowed to bathe ashore in Spain, sporting information exhibiting that the invasion might land close to Calais. time-honored George Patton and the 0.33 military have been stationed close to Dover, springing up the very tangible phantasm that his tension may well be the spearhead. on the days the invasion replaced into decrease than way squadrons of RAF bombers have been dropping tinfoil strips over the Channel that confirmed up on German radar as an invasion fleet headed for Calais. The German artillery actual opened hearth on it! sure, Hitler replaced into confident that Patton might come ashore at Calais. sure, he held his armour in reserve. That replaced into area of the plan! enable us to anticipate that the Axis (Germany had allies, too) had handed over the misdirection and moved their armour to Normandy. The Allies had stunning intelligence and option touchdown sites available. If Hitler had massed his armour at Normandy Bradley might have landed at Calais relatively. We enjoyed the best thing approximately understanding the place we've been going to strike and whilst. The Germans had to shelter the completed sea coast. finally, after the landings Hitler did launch his armour. The Royal Air tension blew up the Samaur Tunnel and prevented the panzers from accomplishing the beachhead. That, too, replaced into area of the plan. The Allied making plans and execution replaced into no longer acceptable, yet given the components available to the enemy they have been unstoppable.
I Think that Soviets paid the biggest price in WW2 so it is stalingrad..operation bagration..but the biggest german mistake was declaring war with US , and on the same day Wehrmacht was repulsed from Moscow..if the Germans besieged Moscow , i think that could knock out USSR and then everything was open...
I would go with D-Day over Stalingrad...but you can also consider things like the Battle of the Bulge, etc which were huge morale builders.
D-Day was certainly important. That was the first step to the Anglo-American liberation of western Europe.
In my view invasion on Soviet was mistake by Germany, So it started downfall for German troops.
Operation Overlord (Known as "D-Day") and the Battle of the Bulge.
