How do you solve this?
(X^3 + 3X^2 -2x -6)
and this one
X^4 -10X^2 + 24
THANKSSS(:

First is grouping:
(X^3 + 3X^2)(-2X - 6) Pull out whatever is possible.
X^2 (X+3) -2(X+3) Now combine
X^2 - 2 (X+3) Put them equal to 0
X^2 - 2=0 X+3=0 Solve
X=1.41 & X=-3
X^4 - 10X^2 + 24 First take take away so it looks like this
X^2 - 10X + 24 Now factor
X^2 - 12X + 2X + 24 Now pull out
X (X - 12) + 2 ( X - 12) Now combine
X+2 X-12 Now put back the exponents you took away
X^2 + 2 & X^2 -12 then solve for x with 0 again
one is a negative root so that won't work and the other is X=3.5
